Brian McBride and Adam Wiltzie from Austin Texas have been releasing ambient music under the name of Stars of The Lid since 1995. In that time they have released many fine albums: And Their Refinement of the Decline (2007), was also a contender for this list, as was Wiltzie's solo project The Dead Texan (2004). Their music is minimal and drone-like. Varying deep chords crescendo, sustain then diminish. Like breathing.Highlights:
